Time to put that big brain to work!

I just got a call from the principal today...he called to talk to me about R's test scores from a test he took in May, mainly a test that looks at cognitive abilities.

Well, he scored very well and so he will be grouped with about 5 other students in his class this year that scored high as well. There will be a district worker that will come in (not sure how often) but will teach the teacher how to work with R and the other students. He told me that R would be given a lot more challenging work, that there will be much teacher/parent interaction as well. I told him good!

I told R that the principal called to tell us who his new teacher will be, I didn't let him know about the other stuff, he'll figure that out soon enough I think. There's not a lot that that R misses.

What a neat kid, and what a wonderful opportunity (and blessing!) for growth and learning he will have this school year. (there'll be no slackin' off anymore!)

Roller Coaster...

OK, on my drive home from my Bro's house I was thinking about the wonderful blessings I have in my life.
I was especially thinking how grateful I am that I got to have some wonderful "girl-time" with some really great ladies this month. I got to see the Sisterhood movie with my Sis and do some shopping, had great times w/my Momba and she really made this finals week so much more bearable for me and the boys and took me to get my fuzzy caterpillar eyebrows waxed this weekend, and my Sista M rescued me from the dreaded freeway and we got to eat too many sweet snacks stay up late and get our nails done (my 3rd time in 10 yrs!). I just love those 3 like crazy!

So then I decide to give myself a headache by checking on my classes.

Now I've been having the hardest time with my Classroom Management class, that instructor and I must just be on different worlds or something, I have had a B in this class since the beginning and that is just a killer for me.
So I created a very detailed science experiment lesson plan last week and I thought it was just awesome she gave out the grades for it today.
Yeah, I got 56 out of 70 points and she shot holes all through it. AAARRRGGGGG!!!!
I am SO glad that this class is finished, and I'm so dreading my grade for my final. I worked hard on that too, had my Mom review it and she thought it was great...too bad my Mom's not the one who gets to grade it!
Out of the 18 college instructors I've had, she is the most aggravating and frustrating I've had to deal with.
Stinkin' learning opportunities...Talk about a rollercoaster of emotions.

Mommy Monday

I'm sure I say this all the time, but I LOVE being a Mom! My boys are just such a source of joy in my life. They are simply amazing and I love them gobs and bunches!

My R is such a sweet spirit, he has lots of love in him and he is so caring. He always has a hard time when his Dad is deployed. (don't feel too bad for us, as for military deployments we have it pretty easy compared to most)

Yesterday was his hard day. He told me he hates the Navy because "all it does is kidnap people!" It was hard not to chuckle at that, it was so cute. But my heart broke for him, at the same time I was thinking how much I'm thankful that my son loves his Dad so much, and how much J loves that R.
We talked for a bit and then I told him that anytime he needed a good snuggle that I'd give it to him. So when it was time to go to sleep he asked me to hold him real tight. We snuggled up and I held him tight and he fell asleep in my arms. He is feeling better today, and is my smiley boy again.

It has been fun and busy lately!! My Momba and Sister w/her Baby C got here on the 1st. J deployed a few days later, then my Bro's kids came over to play for the week! We had us 3 ladies and 6 kids, totally awesome!! We played outside, played inside, went on field trips, watched movies, and hung out. It was just awesome! After my Bro and Auntie M came home from their business trip we all went camping at Camp Zion. It was the best! We got to sleep in a open bunk cabin, cook over a fire, go swimming, fishing, hiking, and play on the play ground, the boys even rode bikes. Sadly, vacation time is coming to an end...Big Bro, Auntie M and their kids went home on Sat, Momba is taking my Sis and Baby C to the airport today, and then Momba will fly out this weekend. The house is way too quiet right now...But I am so glad for the opportunity we all had to be together and have so much fun!

Once I get the rest of the pics form the other cameras I'll post more pics, there's the Zoo, the beach, and the campground.

The Last One...

Yesterday I finished the 4th book of the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn.
I've been so busy lately that I didn't even know the 4th book was for sale on Saturday, but J and I were out on our all day anniversary date and we saw it and J bought it for me! I loved it, it's an awesome book!
I'm a little sad that it's all done, I'm always so excited to read the end of a series to find out how it all wraps up, then I'm bummed that its over. I've spent all this time with these characters; now that the conversations and happenings they went through in their books are in my head, they are almost like real memories. I don't know if that's crazy or not! Every good series that I've read sits in my mind and now the story of Edward and Bella is in there too.
Now I'm just waiting for the movie...

It's Been 10 Years Since...I got Married!

10 years ago J and I got married! I was 18 and he was 19 and we were married outside at his Dad's house in Idaho (Notice the tractor in the background!). The weather was so hot leading up, but on our wedding day it poured rain! So my curls didn't stay, but now when ever it rains it takes me back to that day.

How it started:
J and I don't really remember each other in High school, he was a grade above me. We also worked at McDonald's together at one time but we don't remember each other at work, but his sister and my friend do!
After my juvenile delinquent days I started to go back to church, that is when I first noticed that Idaho boy. But he didn't talk to me, I guess that was a way to get my attention! We all hung out with the same people, but there was nothing special between us except for me not sure how to act around him. I started crushing on a boy at school and was determined to get this other boy to notice me. So for homecoming dance I got a new dress w/matching earrings and shoes-I was serious!
J's sister called the day of homecoming and told me that the church harvest dance started a bit before the school dance did and I should stop by. So I did, all dressed up and not planning to stay. I was up on the stage waiting to tell the DJ about a song. J comes running up, stops right in front of me, takes a good look and says, "You look awesome!" I was a goner from that moment on... All thoughts of that other boy were out of my head, he was too late.
I dance with J all night and then we started dating. The day after Valentine's day on a weekend off from roofing in California he asked me to marry him--"I'm coming home in April, getting a new job, a place to live, and then I'm marrying you" I said, "OK, but I'm not telling anyone until I get a ring!"
So April came along with my ring, I got my dress during Spring Break, he took me to my Prom in May, then we were married August 1st, 1998.

During our 10 years we have lived in 4 different states (not counting when I was in Alaska while he was in Michigan during boot camp) lived in 10 different houses, and have been to 31 U.S. states together. He's had 3 different jobs, I've had 2. Together we've experienced major depression and major joys, weight gain and weight loss, speeding tickets and fender benders, renting and home ownership, 3 pregnancies and 2 healthy awesome boys, crushing debt and as the years continue more financial freedoms, He's earned his Bachelors in Human Resource Management and I'm still plugging away in college, we've experienced opposition and wonderful support, many many learning opportunities, fights and forgiveness, church callings and a temple sealing, laughter and tears, and we are each others best friends.

I sure love that J, and being his wife is one great blessing! So here's to 10 Great years, and looking forward to Forever with my J!
